Autumn Face

Without a doubt, this has to be my favourite time of year, i love this season! Everything about Autumn is highly recognised with me. I always get this fond memory from when i was younger; walking through the streets at night on halloween (dressed as a cat most likely) and my nose tingling to the smell of autumn! Im sure many of you will know what i mean by the simple smell of 'autumn' it has its own smell, just like summer, spring and winter. Autumn just happens to be my favourite. I think of roasted chestnuts and pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks (mmm!) I love getting up and seeing outside to be slightly foggy and the leaves change to deep reds and browns, i guess this is what inspires me with my makeup during this season - the colours of autumn, and on my face in autumn i like to wear an array of browns, reds, deep plum and purples. This is the season where i tend to buy anything and everything with the name 'red wine' in! mostly lipsticks but lets not again go into that because i will never be able to justify how many 'same lipsticks in the same colour' i have. I think they're all completely different but others will disagree and just call me a hoarder!

New Hair

Over the years i have had many different colours of hair but generally stuck to the style being long and natural. I have wanted to change my hair style a while now, and now i've changed a few things in my life recently i thought why not just try something new, hair grows back after all! I was initially going to go for a length that was just longer than my shoulders and maybe add a few layers in there, but i thought to myself if i'm going to cut my hair dramatically i technically have to do it short, so thats exactly what i did. I kept the blonde ends on my hair and dark roots and i think it looks even better on my hair now its shorter. My hair feels healthier and so much lighter. Managing it is probably the biggest bonus from getting it cut as not only does it dry super quick, it doesn't look dry so i don't have to use as much product on it. This was such a nerve wracking process for me, i haven't had short hair since i was in reception at primary school and i was dressed as a little pudding, and oh boy did i look like a pudding, the hair finished it off - it was cut by my unexperienced in hairdressing mother at the time so you can imagine how i looked.

Anyway, here are some pictures of my new hair.

Let me know what you think!

Daily Brows

IMG_9479

As some of you may know, my favourite part of my makeup routine is doing my eyebrows. They are so important when it comes to your makeup, especially in the shaping of your face! I am a perfectionist when it comes to them and if anything is out of place it can make your whole face messy and uneven and its a serious pet peeve of mine. I agree with the quote "your eyebrows are sisters and not twins" and yeah mine are sisters... just ones that look a little bit like twins! I have to have them almost identical and in a specific shape and colour, if one side is slightly different, i have to restart from scratch! Im going to tell you how i achieve my eyebrows, products i use and any tips and tricks i may have when creating the perfect brow. Some of my favourite eyebrows belong to the likes of kylie jenner, sherylin fenn, brooke sheilds and kim kardashian. Oh and of course angelina! The look i tend to go for is a more arched HD brow with a realistic effect. I dont like my eyebrows to look too harsh or 'boxy' i like them to be softer at the front and darker at the arch and at the end, this creates a more natural looking HD brow.

1. First i prepare my skin for any plucking of hair. I apply vaseline to my brows and brow bone to help with the process, this makes the hairs easier to slide out from the follicle and it hurts a lot less. After i have them in the shape i want them, i gently dab witch hazel over them to help with the redness and swelling on my skin.

2. After i've plucked the unwanted hairs away, i use a small angled brush and dip it into my sleek eyebrow palette which is a combination of a powder and a paste/gel which is similar to the anastasia BH dip brow pot. I create definition on my brow by drawing a line with the gel under my eye, slightly lighter at the front of my brow. This outlines my eyebrows and helps with the HD effect.

3. Once i have the same line on both eyes i will then go in with the powder from the palette and fill my brows in, following the same way the hair is going and gradually building up the colour more towards the arch and tail of my brows.

4. When i get to the front on my brow, i just take whatever is left on my brush from the powder and lightly follow the hairs and then blend the whole eyebrow together. This leaves you with a kind of ombre effect which looks HD but soft and realistic at the same time.

5. To clean up my brows i will go around them with mac studio fix fluid incase i have smudged it anywhere. This also further defines the shape of the brow. Then finally i like to add a tiny bit of highlighter to my brow bone to highlight my arch.

After you have followed these steps you will be left with something a bit like this.

My Weekend Face

Over the weekend i went to celebrate one of my oldest and dearest friends on graduating! she is now a fully qualified lovely little nurse! It was really nice to catch up and see some old friends who i went to school with all that long time ago. I was surprised to see that things hadn't changed much and apart from the numerous amounts of hair colour changes, we all pretty much look the same. We started off in the back garden, catching up and talking about funny memories we had of each other when growing up, one of them being when i was the victim of a serious fringe attack, and another of when i hit my friend with a roller skate in the face! (desirable friend) Then i was delighted with a free bar in the garden! I don't really know if i should use the word 'delighted' because i really regret it being there now, i drank copious amounts of vodka before the place filled up and my head is still hurting to this day. There was also an impressive buffet there with the most amazing little treats but i was good and only ate fruit, but i'm assuming this was because i was already drunk at this point and i wasn't hungry, or that the taste of the strawberry being in my champagne drew me to the fruit bowl! After we had all had one too many vodkas we decided we should go ''out out'' and it all went downhill from the moment we got in the car to Liverpool. It was worth it though!

Achieving The Dark Lip

IMG_8778

I'm one of them girls who wears lipstick no matter where i am, what day it is or if i'm just running to my local shop. Its safe to say I have a slight addiction. I love everything about them, even right down to the shape and style of the packaging they come in, some may think this is extremely sad, others like me will think this is the norm! My absolute favourite packaging to name just a few are from brands like nars, mac (especially when theres a new campaign!!), the balm, and of course limecrime. I will leave some examples of the packaging i love below and maybe you might understand my adoration a little bit more, no?

Anyway! instead of talking about lipstick packaging which could go on forever, i will get back to what i was originally talking about, dark lipstick!

Dreaming Of The Balm

IMG_6570
I discovered The Balm last year and i have wanted a couple of particular products from them for a while now. I plan on purchasing these items and trying them out, but for now i just wanted to tell you a bit about why i love these products in particular and why i've wanted them for so long. What originally attracted me to The Balm was the unique packaging that all of their products come in. The packaging is vintage and very 1940's pinup girl, i find that this is a theme throughout the products even down to the colours in their eyeshadow pallets, lipsticks, blush and bronzers. The first product from the balm i want to talk to you about is their eye primer "Put A Lid On It", I have been looking for a decent eye primer for a long time other than my urban decay primer potion (which i love by the way), i just want to change things up a bit and see how others work. I have read numerous reviews from fellow bloggers and watched youtube videos on this product and i've heard nothing but excellent things about it. I have a few eyeshadows already from the balm and they last all day and are so, so pigmented after i experienced how amazing their products were i knew i had to try more and the primer would be something i use a lot with the shadows.

Bedroom Redecoration

IMG_8702

As some of you may know, i have recently moved back home to live with my parents from University. I decided that when i came back i would settle myself back in by getting some things in order! One of these was to redecorate and organise my bedroom. I cannot stand surrounding myself in mess any longer and i feel that with a bedroom you're unhappy with, it's quite easy to not care that you're most likely ok with living in squalor. Over the last couple of weeks i've been gathering some inspiration online and in stores like ikea and next's home department. I'm not one of those people who likes a lot of colour at all and this goes for my bedroom/living space also, I prefer everything to have a clean and modern style to it but also have some kind of character along with it. My colour palette is actually, quite literally just plain white, everywhere. I have a good relationship with white, in terms of how it makes me feel and how it looks against skin and just everything else! I may have the odd unusual plant on my bedside table or a little bit of black somewhere but the majority of my bedroom will be white. I plan on having my real wooden floorboards painted into a matte white, my oak kingsize bed headboard painted in white along with the frame, bed linen and curtains, furniture, door, even anything i use for storage like my makeup storage will have to be white. Id hate anything to look out of place. Waking up in a white room is also extremely good for you it helps you to stay calm and relaxed, you feel more organised and clean; this is good for the mind "a tidy room, a tidy mind"

My Summer Sounds

Personally my summer isn't complete without a summer playlist. I listen to sounds ranging from all different styles of house music to future garage and occasionally the odd few songs in the charts. In all honesty i don't limit myself to a certain genre of music i like all kinds and here is just a few of my favourites i've got on my summer playlist for 2014. If you want to hear more of my latest favourites i would love to hear from you. Don't forget to follow me on soundcloud here

The Holy Grail Of Foundation Brushes

blogging 1

Of course it would be impossible for me to just choose one holy grail as i have so many favourites for different makeup. I prefer a certain density in my brushes when applying different foundations to my face. A girl can never have to many foundation brushes!

Real Techniques Core collection face brushes

Superdrug £20.99 HERE
The core collection from Real Techniques has to be the best group of face brushes i own. The pack contains; a detailer brush, which i specifically use for concealing my problem areas BUT when i have a messy lipstick it's handy to use on my lips to the desired precision and shape. A pointed foundation brush, which i use for a light coverage foundation or my primer and BB/CC cream. The dreamy and my absolute favourite, the buffing brush! Amazing with mac studio fix and leaves a smooth and even finish on the skin. Ideal for full coverage and can also be used to apply translucent powder. I also use it after i have applied my contour to blend everything in, it leaves my skin looking more even and well blended. The next brush in the kit is the contour brush, i used to just use an eyeshadow brush to draw a faint dark line and then blend it out with a foundation brush but since i got the contour brush i could never go back, the way the brush is shaped contours exactly were you want it to, the shape of the brush helps with creating a dark shadow but blends at the same time 0 leaving a soft focus finish.

July Wishlist

wishlist 1

|Over the past couple of years my makeup collection has become quite impressive, i always feel guilty when i buy more as the majority of it is products i don't need but of course, want!|
Kat Von D - Lock It Foundation

Sephora $34.00 HERE
I have wanted this foundation for a few months now, i have watched endless reviews and heard so many good things about this product. I am guilty of spending a lot of money on foundation and many that i don't need. But the most important thing within my makeup routine is my foundation, i like heavy coverage and every blemish hidden from the eyes. I find that with other foundations other than my current mac studio fix, i have to apply a lot of it and really build it up to create the look i want. However i always end up looking like a complete cake face and transfering my face onto expensive clothing! This is why i only trust two foundations currently, those being my holy grail mac studio fix fluid and of course the dupe for this, revlon colour stay. When i read reviews on the Kat Von D foundation i could see only good points about it. One thing that really attracted me to this product was that one layer of foundation was as equal to 2 layers of studio fix (what i normally do) and it dries MATTE! which to me is the golden rule of a base. I am yet to review this product so keep an eye out for when i do.

New Blogger Alert

I have been wanting to create a blog for such a long time, (CLICHE!) but i have never actually found the time to keep up to date with it. I was either in college or university with hefty work loads or spending time with my friends at uni. I have had some big news recently and its changed my life plan in quite the dramatic way and i have found myself having a lot more free time than i usually would have. I recently left university and decided not to carry on into third year, for reasons i don't yet feel comfortable talking about but eventually, i'm sure it will get easier and i will fill you in! I really struggled with Uni anyway, i was studying what i studied at college - Fashion Management & Marketing. The course wasn't exactly what i imagined when i went to university and the lifestyle wasn't all that great, i went out and made brilliant lifelong friends but thats not what university is about, its about the content of the course and how much you enjoy it. Its fair to say i disliked it, a lot. I now have time to run a blog and i'm really excited! I hope to post at least once a day or once every 2 days, about beauty products, regimes, and general lifestyle.

Let the blogging begin...
